3 Easy Ways to Make Your Family’s Nutrition The BEST EVER This New Year

It’s a new year, and we’re getting even more serious about nutrition at Stay Fueled!

We want you, your family, and your young athletes to succeed this new year with nutrition! Make a commitment with us to give your family what they need this year to be successful!

3 Easy Ways to Make Your Family’s Nutrition The BEST EVER This New Year

1. Commit to A PLAN

You got it! We’ve said this one before and it’s what Stay Fueled is based on, but let’s get back to it. We plan our finances, budget, health care, and we even have school planned for the rest of the year, BUT we forget to plan our nutrition and wonder why it’s not working for us.

Nutrition can be easy if we have a plan in place, and it makes it incredibly easy for our athletes. However, when they don’t know what to eat each day, they’ll take the least path of resistance. This can be a candy bar, soda, grabbing something from the vending machine, or even school lunch which we all know is usually sub-par.

One of the things that great athletes do to make sure they get the most out of their training is to plan their meals. There’s a reason they plan their meals….

Here are two ways to accomplish this planning:

  1. Sit down today and plan out meals for the month of January (or whichever month your in). Get ahead so you don’t have to do this every week. This is a ton of work, and it takes time out of your schedule, but it’s worth every ounce of effort for you and your family! OR…
  2. Start with Stay Fueled TODAY! Why? We’ve done it for you. You don’t have to spend any time planning, just take the shopping list to the store, get what you need, and see your family succeed! It’s so easy.

2. Make the Better Choice

As with all things in life, start making the better choice in foods. Make a commitment to read the labels, and start picking the foods that have the better ingredients. You don’t have to go full organic, but there are definitely much better choices you can make. Here are a few examples:

  • Instead of white bread, choose a whole wheat option (We love something like Dave’s Killer Bread)
  • Choose products that do not include high fructose corn syrup. Sugar in limited quantities is fine, high fructose corn syrup is not fine
  • Instead of Gatorade or Powerade, make your own practice drink by using 1/2 water & 1/2 juice with a pinch of salt, or use coconut water

Let’s make this year the year of great choices when it comes to nutrition!

3. Be the Example

Children and adolescents need to learn what great nutrition is. They’ll be leaving the house soon and we need to make sure we impart into them what it means to be healthy. You can tell your family what great nutrition is, but if you’re not leading them by example, they’ll never learn what is right.

You have your plan, now show your family how you can stick with it! The Stay Fueled plan is even great for parents. It’s been shown that eating more frequently is the best method for overall health and for becoming as fit as you can possibly be! Team Stay Fueled up with a great exercise regime this year and see amazing things happen not only for your family, but also for you!
